Attention should be paid to the following during the process of loading and unloading optical fiber cables by sea:
1. Avoid storing cables in the open air as much as possible, and the cable trays are not allowed to be laid flat.
2. When hoisting the package, it is not allowed to hoist several trays at the same time. On vehicles, ships and other means of transport, the cable trays should be fixed in a suitable way to prevent them from colliding with each other or overturning, so as to prevent mechanical damage to the cables.
3. Cables should not be in contact with acids, alkalis and mineral oils. They should be stored separately from these corrosive substances. There should be no harmful gases that damage insulation and corrode metals in the warehouse where cables are stored.
4. During the storage period, the cables should be rolled regularly (once every three months in summer, and may be extended as appropriate in other seasons). When rolling, turn the bottom side of the storage tray upside down to prevent moisture and rot at the bottom. Always pay attention to the integrity of the cable glands during storage.
5. The cable storage period is limited to the product ex-factory period, generally not more than one and a half years, not more than two years.
6. Do not drop the cable or the cable tray with the cable from a high place during transportation, especially at low temperature (generally about 5C and below), throwing or dropping the cable may cause the insulation and sheath to crack.
7. Before transporting or rolling the cable reel, it is necessary to ensure that the cable reel is firm, the cable is tightly wound, the oil pipe between the oil-filled cable and the pressure tank should be fixed without damage, the pressure tank should be firm, and the pressure indication should meet the requirements.
8. During long-distance transportation, the cable reel should have a firm sealing plate. The cable reel is firmly fixed on the transporter, preventing the cable reel from vibrating strongly, shifting, rolling, bumping against each other or tipping over.
