As one of the most important optical passive devices in optical fiber system, optical fiber connector requires lower insertion loss and higher return loss in performance to improve the reliability of optical fiber transmission system. To evaluate the quality of optical fiber connectors, it is necessary to measure the shape parameters of the end face of the connector pins after grinding and polishing, including the radius of curvature, the offset of the vertex and the depression of the fiber core. The optical fiber can maintain good physical contact only when the shape parameters of the end face are guaranteed within a certain range. In addition, try to remove the deterioration layer of the fiber end face, and test whether the fiber end face has scratches or other dirt. Finally, the performance of low insertion loss and high return loss should be satisfied. Therefore, the grinding and polishing process of optical fiber connectors is very important to improve their optical properties.

Two, optical fiber connector polishing process. Optical fiber grinding process is the result of multiple single abrasive particles on the surface of abrasive paper.

Four grinding method: degluing package - coarse grinding - semi-fine grinding - fine grinding - polishing

(1) For optical fiber connectors whose outsourcing is ceramic sleeve, such as FC, SC, ST and LC optical fiber connectors, diamond grinding pieces are mainly used for grinding, and ADS is used for polishing. Grinding process: SC30/15-D9-D6-D3-D1-ADS/ cerium oxide polishing film +SiO2 polishing liquid; Or SC30/15-D9-D3-D1-ADS/ cerium oxide polishing film +SiO2 polishing solution; Or SC30/15-D9-D1-ADS/ cerium oxide polishing film +SiO2 polishing fluid. SC30/15 silicon carbide grinding sheet is used for degluing package; D9 or D6 or D3 diamond grinding tablets for rough grinding; D1 diamond grinding sheet for semi-fine grinding; D0.5 diamond grinding disc for fine grinding. ADS/ cerium oxide polishing film +SiO2 polishing fluid is used for polishing. The abrasive pad is rubber pad.

(2) The optical fiber connector of APC ceramic sleeve needs to be bevelled with large grain diamond grinding paper first in the grinding process, and then grinded with D9-D1-ADS.

(3) For optical fiber connectors whose outsourcing is plastic sleeve, such as MT-RJ optical fiber connectors grinding process: SC30/15-SC9-SC6-SC3-SC1, polishing with black leather + cerium oxide grinding liquid; The grinding pad is made of glass.
