Certification test of cable transmission channel

The certification test does not improve the channel performance of generic cabling, but only confirms whether the installed cables, related connecting hardware and their processes can meet the design requirements. The results are valid only if the test instruments that can meet the specific requirements are used and the corresponding test methods are followed.



For example, the Pentasconner 5 tester of Microsoft Corporation is used to conduct 5 types of tests. The method is: first connect the two ends of the jumper with the tester, then press AutoTEST to test, then press F1 to display the test results, and finally print the test results.




The content of certification test includes nine five categories of technical indicators: Length, Next (Nearendcrosstalk), Attenuation, Acr (Attenuation to crosstalk), WireMap, Impedance, Capacity, LoopResistance and Noise. When all test results are "PASS" (as shown in Figure 1), it means that the cabling system meets the transmission technical requirements of Category5Cable.




If there are some problems during the test, we can analyze them from the following aspects, and then troubleshoot them one by one.




① The failure of near end crosstalk may be caused by problems at the near end connection point, or by string pairing, external interference, short circuit at the far end connection point, link cable and connection hardware performance problems, different products, and cable termination quality problems.




② The failure of wiring diagram may be caused by open circuit, short circuit, cross or fracture of the connectors at both ends, or jump connection error.




③ The failure of attenuation failure may be caused by the cable being too long or the temperature being too high, or the connection point problem, or the performance problem of the link cable and the connection hardware, or the different products, or the cable termination quality problem.




④ The reason for the failure may be that the cable is too long, open circuit or short circuit, or the total length of the equipment wiring and jumper is too long.




⑤ The causes of tester failure may be that the tester does not start (the problem can be solved by replacing the battery or charging), the tester cannot work or perform remote calibration, the tester is set to an incorrect cable type, the tester is set to an incorrect link structure, the tester cannot store automatic test results, and the tester cannot print stored automatic test results.
