Introduction to generic cabling design of computer room

For the layout of trunking, it is generally arranged around the equipment. In the case that the use of cabinets is becoming more and more common, it can be considered to have a parallel layout with rows of cabinets. Generally, one trunking is arranged for each row of cabinets, or one trunking can be shared on the middle aisle of two rows of adjacent cabinets. The former mode is more ideal. For the machine room with raised floor, the common practice is to install the trunking under the raised floor. However, with the widespread adoption of precision air conditioners with underfloor air supply in high-end computer rooms, this mode has exposed many problems.

As the equipment is arranged in rows in the machine room, each row of equipment is equipped with trunking under the floor. Generally, the height of trunking is 50~100mm, while the laying height of raised floor is only about 300mm, which affects the smoothness of air conditioning duct. The more trunking, the worse the air supply effect (there are often strong trunking under the floor). Moreover, the arrangement of lines, especially strong current lines, under the raised floor also increases the potential fire hazard. Electrical failures may cause fire sources. At the same time, people under the floor are not easy to be found quickly. Even if conventional fire temperature and smoke detectors are equipped, the response is not rapid due to the air supply under the floor. Many fire accidents have occurred under the raised floor. Therefore, many computer rooms, especially in the telecommunications industry, now generally adopt the routing mode of online routing.

The use of upper wiring requires the coordination of equipment layout, which is mainly applicable to the situation of standard rack layout, and the size of the cabinet, especially the height, should be basically consistent to ensure the beauty. The upper wiring adopts trunking. There are two installation modes for trunking: the support is hoisted on the top and the support is supported on the ground. The support on the ground is easy to cause fights between the support and the cabinet, so attention shall be paid in the design.

There are two types of upper wiring trunking: open ladder type cable tray and closed type cable tray. Open ladder is the mainstream of application. In the design, first of all, according to the overall planning of the cabinets in the machine room plane, each row of cabinets is set with one route. The advantage of open ladder is easy maintenance. Because no additional holes are needed, it is convenient to add or remove lines; There is no need to lift the floor, only a ladder can be used, and the workload is small. It is convenient to find faults. Unlike the closed trunking under the floor, it is easy to observe the fault point, especially the fire hazard. Its disadvantage is that it has higher requirements for rat prevention.

Open ladder is usually considered together with strong current. Generally, the upper, middle and lower layers are considered as channels for strong current lines, copper lines and optical cables. Because the optical cables, especially a large number of optical jumpers in the computer room, are relatively fragile, the optical cable cable tray is often closed, which is easy to manage. The distance between each layer shall not be less than 300mm. If the floor height of the machine room is not enough, the number of floors can also be reduced and left and right layout can be adopted. The distance between strong current and weak lift frame shall be controlled according to the specification. If the distance still cannot be reached, shielded wire or closed type can be used for strong current.
