With the development trend of power optical cable communication technology, in the electromechanical installation project of expressway, optical cable will be widely used instead of metal cable. Causing sufficient attention to take the necessary protective measures.

Generally speaking, the lightning protection measures of general metal material power optical cables used in highway electromechanical installation projects are also suitable for optical cables. However, for the application in actual places, we should also pay attention to the characteristics of the optical cable itself, and take effective countermeasures to achieve the actual effect of twice the effort with half the effort.

Lightning protection of power cable

Long-distance communication cables should clarify lightning protection areas and countermeasures according to the number of local thunderstorm days, soil resistivity, topography and commonly used cable types.

When the power optical cable line passes through the area where the annual average number of thunderstorm days is less than 20 days and the soil resistivity within 10 meters is less than 100 ohm-meter, lightning protection measures are not adopted. In the area where the thunderstorm day exceeds 20 days and the soil resistivity within 10 meters exceeds 100 ohm-meter, when the power optical cable line encounters the following residences, lightning protection measures should be adopted:

When two or more power optical cables are laid in the same trench, horizontal connections should be made at the joints that are closer together;

The power optical cable line should be grounded for the lightning protection maintenance system, and the interval should be 4 kilometers. The interval of lightning protection and grounding protection in areas with severe lightning damage can be appropriately reduced. Europe; in the electrified railway section, the shielded ground wire of the long-distance communication cable can replace the lightning protection ground wire;
