Network cable purchase precautions

Time:2022-04-25 Views:

The identification of the three-category line is "CAT3", the bandwidth is 10M, and it is suitable for the 10-megabit network; "CAT5E", with a bandwidth of 155M, is a mainstream product; the six-category line is marked with "CAT6" with a bandwidth of 250M, which is used to set up a gigabit network.

In addition to fake cables, there are many cases in the market where Category 3 cables are used to pretend to be Category 5 cables and Category 5 super cables. The following is the identification method of the network cable:

1. There are two pairs of four wires in the third type of wire, and four pairs of eight wires in the fifth type of wire.

2. The outer rubber of the real thread is not easy to burn, while the outer rubber of the fake thread is mostly flammable.

3. At higher temperature (above 40°C), the outer rubber of the fake thread will become soft, but not really.

4. The copper core material inside the real wire is relatively pure, soft, tough and not easy to be broken.

5. The twisting direction of the network cable is counterclockwise instead of clockwise. Clockwise rotation will have an effect on speed and transmission distance.

6. The number of turns of the lines in the network cable is different when the number of turns is the same, because if the number of turns is the same, the transmission signals between the two pairs of lines will interfere with each other, making the transmission distance shorter.

7. There is a layer of metal mesh and insulating material between the wires of the shielded twisted pair and the rubber, and the outside of the crystal head is also wrapped by metal.

8. If possible, you can find a 100-meter twisted pair cable and use the "Network Monitor" or "Resource Monitor" in Windows to test it on the spot. The Category 5 cable can reach 100Mbps, and the Category 3 cable is only 10Mbps.

9. The standard length of the network cable is 1000 feet/box (approximately equivalent to 305 meters)

10. Use a magnet to identify the iron core wire. If the network cable can be attracted by a magnet (even if it is slightly attracted), it means that it is an iron core wire. The iron core wire has a large resistance, which seriously affects the transmission efficiency and transmission distance. It is not recommended to buy. High-quality network cables generally use copper as the core. Even with inferior wire, aluminum should be used for the core.

11. Peel off a little network cable and check the thickness of the wire core. If the wire core is too thin, it will also affect the transmission efficiency. Therefore, a relatively thick wire core should be used.

Pay attention to these points when purchasing network cables, basically there is no problem.
