The most important thing for long distance optical cable laying is to choose an appropriate path. The shortest path is not necessarily the best, but also the land use right, the possibility of erection or burial, etc.

When the optical cable turns, its turning radius shall be 20 times larger than the diameter of the optical cable itself.

1. Outdoor overhead optical cable construction:

A. The overhead suspension method is simple and cheap. It is widely used in China, but it is time-consuming to hang and arrange the hooks.

B. Hanging wire winding overhead mode is relatively stable and requires less maintenance. But special binding machine is required.

C. The self bearing overhead mode has high requirements for poles, is difficult to construct and maintain, and has high cost. It is rarely used in China.

D. When overhead, guide device must be added at the leading wire rod of optical cable to avoid dragging the cable to the ground. Pay attention to reducing friction when pulling optical cables. A section of optical cable for expansion shall be left on each pole.

E. Pay attention to the reliable grounding of metal objects in the optical cable. Especially in mountainous areas, high-voltage power grid areas and thunderstorm prone areas, there are generally three grounding points per kilometer, and even non-metallic optical cables are used.
