The difference between cable and optical cable

Time:2022-05-24 Views:

What is cable? Cable is a general term for optical cables, cables and other items. There are many uses of cables, mainly used for multiple functions such as control installation, connection equipment, and power transmission. It is a common and indispensable thing in daily life. Since the cables are live, installation requires special care.

The difference between cable and optical cable

1. There are differences in material. The cable is made of metal material (mostly copper, aluminum) as the conductor; the optical cable is made of glass fiber as the conductor.

2. There is a difference in the transmission signal. Cables transmit electrical signals. Optical cable transmits no signal.

3. There are differences in the scope of application. Cables are now mostly used for energy transmission and low-end data information transmission (such as telephone). Optical cables are mostly used for data transmission.

The difference between optical fiber and optical cable

Optical fiber is a thin and soft medium that transmits light beams. Optical fiber cables consist of a bundle of fibers, referred to as optical cables for short. The optical fiber is the core part of the optical cable, and the optical fiber constitutes the optical cable through the protection of some components and the auxiliary protective layer.

Optical fibers are usually made of quartz glass, which is a double-layer concentric cylinder with a small cross-sectional area, also known as the fiber core, which is fragile and easy to crack.
