Unshielded twisted pair test

Time:2022-12-08 Views:

From the perspective of engineering, the test of structured cabling unshielded twisted pair can be divided into two categories, one is conduction test, the other is certification test.

In order to ensure that the cable installation meets the requirements of performance and quality, the construction personnel shall test while constructing during the construction process. This method is the continuity test, which can ensure that each completed connection is correct. The conduction test focuses on the connection performance of structured cabling and does not care about the electrical characteristics of structured cabling.

Certification test refers to testing structured cabling system according to standards to determine whether all structured cabling meets design requirements. Generally, the channel performance of structured cabling depends not only on the construction process of cabling, but also on the quality of the cables and related connecting hardware used. Therefore, certification testing, also known as Category 5 testing certification, must be conducted for structured cabling. Through the test, we can confirm whether the installed cables, related connection hardware and their processes can meet the design requirements. This test includes connection performance test and electrical performance test.

(1) Verification test of the link

Cable installation is a work mainly based on installation process. Since no one can work correctly, we must conduct link test to ensure that cable installation meets the requirements of performance and quality. Without testing tools, some errors may occur in connection work. Common connection errors include wrong cable label, open connection and short circuit.

① Open circuit and short circuit During construction, open circuit or short circuit faults may occur due to lack of tools, wiring skills or wall threading technology.

② Reverse the connection of the same pair of wires at the pin positions at both ends. For example, one end is 1-2, and the other end is 2-1.

③ Misalignment connects a pair of wires to another pair of wires at the other end, such as 1-2 at one end and 4-5 at the other end.

④ String winding The so-called string winding refers to the separation of the original two pairs of wires and the formation of a new pair of wires. Because the end-to-end connectivity is not affected when this fault occurs, the cause of the fault cannot be detected with an ordinary multimeter, and can only be detected with a special cable tester.
