As an optical passive device, optical fiber attenuator is used to debug optical power performance in optical communication systems, calibrate optical fiber instruments, and attenuate optical fiber signals. Classification of optical fiber attenuators. Ports are classified into the following types:
SC fiber attenuator: Applied to the SC fiber interface, it looks similar to the RJ-45 interface, but the SC interface is slightly flat. The obvious difference is the inner contact plate. If there are eight thin copper contact plates, it is an RJ-45 interface, and if there is one copper column, it is an SC fiber interface.
LC fiber attenuator: Used in LC fiber interface to connect SFP module connector, it is made of modular jack (RJ) latch mechanism which is easy to operate. (commonly used in routers)
FC fiber attenuator: Used for FC fiber interfaces. The external tightening mode is metal sleeve, and the tightening mode is turnbuckle. Generally used on the ODF side (most used on the distribution frame)
ST optical attenuator: Used for ST optical fiber interfaces and optical fiber distribution frames. The shell is round and fastened by turnbuckle. For 10Base-F connections, the connector is typically of type ST. Commonly used in optical fiber distribution frame)
