Generally, in addition to optical fibers, the materials that make up optical cables can be divided into three categories:

(1) Polymer materials: loose tube material, polyethylene sheath material, halogen-free flame retardant sheath material, polyethylene insulating material, water blocking ointment, polyester tape;

(2) Metal-plastic composite belt: steel-plastic composite belt, aluminum-plastic composite belt;

(3) Reinforcing parts: phosphating steel wire, stainless steel wire, glass fiber reinforced plastic round bar, etc.

Under the premise of excellent optical fiber transmission mechanical properties, reasonable structural design of optical cables, and perfect cabling process, the mechanical, temperature, water resistance, life and other characteristics of optical cables mainly depend on the performance of various materials selected and their matching quality.
